چکیده
Light-stick is a light attractor used in longline fishing which is often dumped or lost into the ocean after used, becoming a potential pollutant to marine organisms. In the present study, toxicity was evaluated by exposing Artemia to light-stick contents. The effects were observed on the survival of nauplii and hatchability of cysts. The LC50 was 0.063mLL−1 after 24h of exposure, whilst hatchability was 100% vailable online 19 August 2008

This letter is in response to the summary of the safety assessment of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) on decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) in cosmetic products published (SCCS & Rousselle, 2017) and the opinion (SCCS, 2017). We have been asked by the Silicones Environmental, Health and Safety Center of the American Chemistry Council to provide comments given that SCCS (2017) ...

ACToR (Aggregated Computational Toxicology Resource) is a database and set of software applications that bring into one central location many types and sources of data on environmental chemicals. Currently, the ACToR chemical database contains information on chemical structure, in vitro bioassays and in vivo toxicology assays derived from more than 150 sources including the U.S. Environmental P...
متن کاملColorimetric Assay for 4-Phenylthiosemicarbazide Detection in Environmental Samples Based on Prussian Blue Nanoparticles Formation Ion
In this research, a fast colorimetric method for the detection of 4-phenylthiosemicarbazid (4-PTSC) in environmental samples, is reported for the first time. Semicarbazide compounds have been used as pesticides or fungicides in agriculture and for chemical synthesis in industrial processes. With this method, one or the total amount of Semicarbazide in real samples can be detected within 6...
متن کاملProduction of tetrodotoxin in puffer fish embryos.
It has been accepted that puffer fish accumulates tetrodotoxin through the food chain. This indicates that tetrodotoxin in puffer fish is exogenous. The present study, however, describes an endogenous origin of tetrodotoxin in puffer fish. For this purpose, the ovulated oocytes from puffer fish Fugu niphobles were artificially fertilized and cultivated. The toxin levels of embryos increased gra...
متن کاملBiological markers of male reproductive toxicology.
Reproduction is a complex, stepwise series of processes that begins with gametogenesis, continues through gamete interaction, implantation, embryonic development, growth, parturition, and postnatal adaptation, and is completed with the development and sexual maturation of the newly formed organism. These reproductive processes do not take place in a chemically pristine environment, but rather i...
